Foundation laid for a modern hospital facility in Juba

[Juba, South Sudan, TCT, by Philp Buda] Jubilant residents of Juba’s Gudele Block 7 neighborhood  on November 7, witnessed the laying of a foundation stone  for the construction of Gudele General Modern Hospital by South Sudan vice president James Wani Igga.

 

The Hospital is a donation from the United Arab Emirates Government (UAE) through its Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to the government of South Sudan.

Its capacity will be 60 beds according to Health Minister Dr. Riak Gai. 

Vice President Igga applauded the UAE for the gift and appreciated National Health Minister Dr. Riak Gai for his wonderful work, securing the donation from the people of UAE and others.

“If you are appointed into any ministerial office work like Dr. Gai even if you don’t have funds, it is all about good planning, from nowhere you will get [resources]. Look now without money, now we have this hospital ” VP Igga said.

Igga added that the government is working towards implementing projects that will boost service delivery to citizens.

“There will be no more war, the government is committed to lasting peace and services provision,” Igga stressed.

Khalifa El Qubaisi, the Deputy Director General for Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), said that the hospital is going to be a world class modern hospital equipped with modern machines [and technology] which will be compared to Abu Dhabi Hospital, with both In-patient, Out-patient and maternity services.

El Qubaisi further said that UAE is committed to partner with the government of South Sudan through ADFD to implement projects that will enhance infrastructural development, including health, as part of achieving the Global sustainable Development Goals. He reiterated their commitment to a successful completion of the hospital project.

National Health minister Dr. Riak Gai Kok said the construction of the hospital in Gudele means implementation of the vision of the Late Dr. John Garang of taking services to the people.

Chairman of Gudele Block ‘7’ Quarter, Mr. Joseph Gore Modi, acknowledged the government and Abu Dhabi for bringing the facility and services closer.

“This hospital will not only offer treatment to the residents of Gudele but also to those from Newsite, Gurei, Rock City and Munuki Mia Saba neighborhoods” Modi explained.

However, Modi called on the government to build good roads and put police stations in their residential areas to curb crime.

Actual construction work at the site is anticipated to kick off in a two weeks’ time and the project should be completed in 18 months, according to Mr. Tejan Fadludeen, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Camp Supplies/Venture International the Company which was contracted to undertake the implementation of the project.
